Vince Gonzales, Professor of Professional Practice, is the Coordinator, Master's Programs, School of Journalism. He is also a freelance correspondent/producer for “SoCal Connected” on KCET here in Los Angeles.

François Bar is Professor of Communication and Spatial Sciences at the University of Southern California. He serves on the Annenberg Innovation Lab research council and is a steering committee member of the Annenberg Research Network on International Communication.

Assistant Professor

Daren C. Brabham is an assistant professor at USC Annenberg, and the founding editor of Case Studies in Strategic Communication. He teaches public relations and new media courses and conducts research into online communities and the role of new media in society.

Associate Professor of Professional Practice

Prof. Peggy Bustamante is a longtime journalist and web developer who recently joined the faculty at USC Annenberg. Previously, she worked as a news applications and interactives developer at Digital First Media, where she created data-driven and interactive projects for the company’s 76 daily newspapers.

Lecturer

Dana Chinn focuses on data journalism and media analytics strategy.  

In addition to teaching Annenberg's new required data journalism courses, she is researching the role of journalism in establishing the policies and standards needed to make government datasets more accurate, accessible and usable to the public.  In 2017-2018 she will be updating her 2015 report on the state of open data in Los Angeles County.  The report challenged governments to think critically about how they measure open data success, and proposed an assessment framework.

In the Master of Communication Management (MCM) program, Professor Craig teaches multiple courses in global and national, traditional, digital and social media industries, management, and practice.

Professor; Director, Master of Public Diplomacy program

Nicholas J. Cull is Professor of Public Diplomacy and is the founding director of the Master of Public Diplomacy program at USC. He took both his BA and PhD at the University of Leeds. While a graduate student, he studied at Princeton as a Harkness Fellow of the Commonwealth Fund of New York. 

Walter H. Annenberg Dean; Professor of Communication, University of Pennsylvania

Michael X. Delli Carpini is Dean of the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania. His research explores the role of the citizen in American politics, with particular emphasis on the impact of the mass media on public opinion, political knowledge and political participation.

Director, USC U.S.-China Institute

Clayton Dube (杜克雷) has headed the USC U.S.-China Institute, a program of USC Annenberg, since it was established by USC President C.L. Max Nikias in 2006 to focus on the multidimensional U.S.-China relationship. USCI enhances understanding of complex and evolving U.S.-China ties through cutting-edge social science research, innovative graduate and undergraduate training, extensive and influential public events, and professional development efforts.

Dean, College of Arts and Sciences

Eric M. Eisenberg is Professor of Communication and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of South Florida. Dr. Eisenberg received his doctorate in Organizational Communication from Michigan State University in 1982. He is recipient of the Burlington Foundation award for excellence in teaching and the Ohio University Elizabeth Andersch Award for lifetime contributions to the field of Communication.

Thomas Hollihan is a professor of communication at the USC Annenberg School. Professor Hollihan publishes in the areas of argumentation, political communication, media diplomacy, contemporary rhetorical criticism, and the impact of globalization on public deliberation.

Gabriel Kahn has worked as a newspaper correspondent and editor for two decades, including 10 years at The Wall Street Journal, where he served as Los Angeles bureau chief, deputy Hong Kong bureau chief and deputy Southern Europe bureau chief, based in Rome. He has reported from more than a dozen countries on three continents.

Associate Professor of Professional Practice in Public Relations

Matthew Le Veque is a public relations veteran with experience in integrated communication campaigns, public affairs and community relations. He was senior vice president at Rogers/Ruder Finn, where he founded and directed the firm’s internal Digital Strategies Group and played a key communication role in California’s anti-tobacco education campaign.

The primary focus of Sheila Murphy's research has been investigating how message factors (such as framing, channel, affective versus noneffective information), individual level factors (such as ethnicity, gender, self-efficacy, identification, and involvement) and cultural level factors (e.g., social norms and beliefs) impact decision-making. For the past 10 years, her work has primarily focused on health-related decisions and on the role of narrative or storytelling in shaping the public's knowledge, attitudes and practices.

Sina Odugbemi is a Senior Communication Officer (Policy) in the Operations Communication Department, External and Corporate Relations Vice- Presidency of the World Bank Group.

Professor, Sociology and American Studies & Ethnicity

Dr. Manuel Pastor is Professor of Sociology and American Studies & Ethnicity at the University of Southern California.  Founding director of the Center for Justice, Tolerance, and Community at the University of California, Santa Cruz, Pastor currently directs the Program for Environmental and Regional Equity (PERE) at USC and USC’s Center for the Study of Immigrant Integration (CSII).  He holds an economics Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Director, Center for Global Communication Studies

Monroe E. Price is director of the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Global Communication Studies (CGCS) at the Annenberg School for Communication, where he works with a wide transnational network of regulators, scholars, and practitioners in Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia, as well as in the United States.

Associate Professor; Director, Global Communication master's degree program

Dr. Riley is a specialist in organizational communication and internationally known for her work on institutional politics and organizational culture change. Her most recent research focuses on the role of communication infrastructure in knowledge management processes and on the role of communication and information technologies in organizational change and transformation.

Jonathan Taplin's areas of specialization are in International Communication Management and the field of digital media entertainment. He is director of the Annenberg Innovation Lab based at USC. 

Clinical Professor; Director, Master of Communication Management

Rebecca Weintraub has spent more than 20 years in the field of communication, facilitation, change management and organizational behavior. Dr. Weintraub is a clinical professor at USC in the Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism. She teaches strategic communication classes in the Communication Management program and provides communication and facilitation consulting services to organizations in the public, private and non-profit sectors.

Former USC Annenberg Dean, Founder of Annenberg Center for Third Space Thinking

Dr. Ernest J. Wilson III, Ph.D., professor of communication and political science, is founder and director of the USC Center for Third Space Thinking. He is also a faculty fellow at USC Annenberg's Center on Public Diplomacy, a member of the board of the Pacific Council on International Policy and the National Academies' Computer Science and Telecommunications Board, and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He served as dean of the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism from 2007 to 2017.  Lastly, he was on the board of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting from 2010, the last year as chairman.
